Data Deletion Instructions
Last updated: May 24, 2026
You can delete your Shoperchat account, the data we hold about you, or just the data linked to a specific connected channel (Facebook Page, Instagram Business account, WhatsApp Business Account, Threads profile, etc.). Pick whichever scope you need — instructions for each are below.
If you arrived here from Facebook after revoking access to Shoperchat, our system has already received a deauthorisation notice and is removing the data linked to your Facebook user ID automatically. The steps below are for cases where you also want to delete your Shoperchat account itself.
Option 1 — Delete your Shoperchat account (recommended)
This removes every piece of data we hold about your account in one go.
- Sign in to your Shoperchat account.
- Go to Settings → Account (or visit /settings/account directly).
- Click Delete account, enter your password, type DELETE to confirm, and submit.
What gets deleted: your user profile, sessions, refresh tokens, verification tokens, OAuth links to Google/GitHub, and every workspace where you are the only member — including every connected channel, conversation, contact, comment, message, post, design, and audit-log entry inside those workspaces. Backups age out within 30 days.
If you're the sole owner of a workspace that has other active members, deletion will be blocked with a clear message — transfer ownership or remove those members first, then re-run the deletion.
Option 2 — Disconnect a single channel
If you only want to revoke access for one platform (e.g. remove a Facebook Page from Shoperchat while keeping your Instagram and WhatsApp connections intact):
- Sign in to Shoperchat and open /channels.
- Find the channel you want to disconnect and click Disconnect.
Disconnecting deletes the channel record, its stored access tokens, and every conversation, comment, contact, message, and broadcast linked to that channel. Other channels in your workspace are unaffected.
Option 3 — Revoke Shoperchat from Facebook
You can also revoke access from inside Facebook itself, which triggers our automatic deletion endpoint:
- Go to Facebook Settings → Business Tools (or for personal apps: Settings → Apps and Websites).
- Find Shoperchat in the list and click Remove.
Facebook will notify us via a signed deauthorisation callback and we will delete every channel + linked data tied to your Facebook user ID. The deletion runs immediately and you can verify completion using the confirmation code Facebook shows you (see Option 4 for how to check status).
Option 4 — Check status of a Facebook deletion request
If Facebook showed you a confirmation code after revoking Shoperchat, you can verify the deletion has completed at /data-deletion-status — paste the code there and we'll confirm.
Option 5 — Email us
If you can't access your account, or your situation doesn't fit any of the options above, send us a deletion request at support@shoperchat.com. Include enough detail to identify the data (registered email, workspace name, connected Page or IG handle). We will respond within 30 days and confirm once deletion is complete.
What we cannot delete
Some records are retained even after deletion where the law requires it — for example billing receipts kept for tax-audit purposes — or where the data has been anonymised and can no longer be linked to you. Where retention is required, we keep only the minimum necessary.
